I'm trying to pick restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan?

Posted in Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining  by admin on September 29th, 2008

Recommendations? I have two small kids, ages almost-3 and almost-5. We are doing Ohana's and Boma and Cinderella's Royal Table. I need one more. I really want Chef Mickey's but they are booked solid for the whole week!!!! I was thinking either Cindrella's Gala Feast or Spoodles.

Please help! I need to make my reservations soon!

Thanks!

Eating Healthy in Disney World

Posted in Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining  by admin on September 29th, 2008

Hi! I was wondering if I can get some tips on eating healthy at Disney World. My family got the dining plan ( 1 counter service, 1 table service and 1 snack per day) We already have our table services reserved, here is where we are going:

Rose & Crown Pub @ EPCOT
Liberty Tree Tavern @ MK
Boma @ Animal Kingdom Lodge
50′s Prime Time Cafe @ MGM
Crystal Palace Breakfast @ MK
Tony’s Town Square @ MK
and Le Cellier @ EPCOT

Does anyone know how I can eat healthier here? Any suggestion of places that sell fruit, or healthy snacks, or healthier counter services? Thanks in advance.

Disney is wonderful about working with guests at the restaurants. I would look at the vegetarian options first, they are usually very good and lighter than the other menu items. Also, if the menu has meat or fish, you can always ask for it grilled and with any sauce on the side. Look for salads or veggies for side items. Ask for dressing on the side and ask for no oil or butter on the veggies.
Finally, you are on vacation. Save some calories for the fun food too!

Animal Kingdom Lodge do they have a package for 1 adult and 1 junior child? with park hopper tickets 6 days?

Posted in Animal Kingdom Lodge  by admin on September 20th, 2008

If I stay 3 nights @Animal Kingdom Lodge can I purchase hopper tickets for 6 days with the same perks as if staying at the resort for the full 6 days? Or should I look into staying at a different resort for the other 3 nights that will easier on the purse

You can buy your park tickets for any number of days, regardless of the number of nights you're staying at the resort. However, you'll only have access to the resort-specific amenities while you're staying there.

As another posted said, I'd also agree that staying elsewhere and then moving up is the best way to do a split stay.

One additional option you might look into is "Renting DVC Points". (google it, or check out the rent/trade boards at http://www.disboards.com) Basically, several disney resorts are partially sold as timeshares, and often times owners aren't able to use all their entitlements in a given year. Renting a studio (which is what you would need for 1 adult and 1 junior) would probably cost you about $150-200 per night Sun-Thurs, give or take. Definitely cheaper than a typical hotel reservation. (I did this a few months ago for a party of 7 total, at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and it was incredible!)
